St. Paul girls volleyball battles until the end in state loss to Bolton

Bolton girls volleyball may have moved on with a win in Wednesday evening’s Class S second round match, but St. Paul gave the home team
everything it could handle.

The 12th-seeded Falcons forced a fifth set, then battled until
the end of that fifth set before losing the match to the fifth-seeded Bulldogs,
3-2. The set scores were 20-25, 25-8, 25-19, 13-25, 15-13).

St. Paul took the first set, but Bolton claimed the next two, including a
resounding win in the second set. The Falcons’ backs were against the wall, but they authored their own resounding win in the fourth set to tie the match at two sets apiece.

It came down to the fifth set, and both teams gave it everything they had.
Unfortunately for St. Paul, it came up just short. The Falcons finished the
season with an overall record of 15-9. It was the final match for seniors Eleanor Casner, captain Alexis Carabetta, Olivia Genovese, Megan Fortier, captain Grace Carabetta, Emily Esposito and captain Kelsi Blatchley.
