The Bristol Co-op boys’ lacrosse team had a solid 10-7 season in 2022 that included an appearance in the Class L state tournament.

Bristol is looking for more success this season, but even the most optimistic fan may not have conjured up the start the boys from Eastern and Central have put together in the first four games of the season.

When sophomore Chase Dauphinee rifled home a goal off an Aidan Collins assist with just over a minute left in overtime of Wednesday afternoon’s home game against Newington, Bristol claimed a 9-8 victory, and a 4-0 start. Collins drove in from behind the left side of the Newington goal, then fired a pass to a cutting Dauphinee on the right, who beat the goalie for the winner.

It was the second straight overtime win for Bristol, which knocked off Tolland, 7-6, on April 5. Bristol opened the season with an 8-4 win on April 1 over Northwest United, a new co-op team in its first varsity season. Bristol shut out Enfield, 10-0, on April 3.

Bristol finally hits the road for the first time Monday, though it will only need to travel less than 20 minutes to do so. Bristol is at Lewis Mills for a 4 p.m. start.
