The Kennedy baseball team is off to a 3-1 start, its best in quite a while.
CIAC online records only go back to the 2007 season, and the Eagles have been 2-2 through four games on three different occasions (2007, 2013, 2017).
Kennedy shut out Ansonia, 2-0, on Saturday at Nolan Field in Ansonia to improve to 3-1 on the season. For the second time in five days, sophomore Joe Fasano pitched a complete game. The right-hander struck out nine after fanning 10 and yielding a single run to Kaynor Tech in a 7-1 win on April 4 at Waterville Park.
In addition to being a strong pitcher, Fasano is hitting .444.
Fasano got some big help from sophomore Daniel Rodriguez in the Ansonia. Rodriguez went 3-for-4 and was Fasano’s catcher.
Rodriguez also came up big in the Kaynor win. He was 3-for-4 in that game with a triple, run scored and RBI. Freshman Jayden Lopez went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs in the Kaynor game.
Kennedy hosts St. Paul on Monday at 3:45 p.m. at Waterville Park.
