For six years, Bristol Central and Bristol Eastern girls lacrosse players combined in a co-op program.
The co-op was broken up in late 2018, and now both schools have their own programs. The Rams took to the field first on Thursday in Enfield, and the visitors picked up the first win in program history, 12-2, over the Eagles.
Jade Longo scored three goals to lead the Central attack. Ashley Watson, Erika Santilli and Corinna Marsh each scored twice for the Rams while Makayla Bunker, Sadye Kowalczyk and Ella Ward all tallied one goal. The defense was rock-solid, and goalie Liz Hintz recorded nine saves.
Central lost its next time out, 14-4 at RHAM on Friday, but that doesn’t take away from the thrill that the Rams experienced in winning their first-ever game. Central plays its first home game on Tuesday against Enfield at 7 p.m.
Eastern begins its inaugural varsity season on Monday at home against Tolland at 6 p.m.
