Bristol Central track and field has tremendous day at Bloomfield invite

In a day of strong performances at Bloomfield High School, the ones authored by Bristol Central track and field athletes really stood out.

Ram boys and girls combined to win eight different events at the 14th Bloomfield Invitational. Central collected five individual first place finishes and won three relays.

One of the most remarkable performances came in the boys 4x800m relay. Central finished first and second in the race. The ‘A’ team of Mark Petrosky, Devin Flores, Austin Freve and Jose Ramirez took first place in 8:26.16. The ‘B’ team of Adam Jones, Nate DeAngelo, Ben Stafford and Ramon Peters was second in 8:56.77. The ‘A’ team result may have been the only official one, but it was still a great effort by the Rams.

Central took first in the girls 4x800m relay behind the team of Natalia Popielarz, Salvatrice Bosco, Alexa Furniss and Marisa Heller in 10:54.31. The Ram boys were first in the 4x400m relay behind the team of Ramirez, Ramon Ambert, Galen Hickey and David Bowes in 3:33.66.

Individually, Petrosky won the 1600m run in 4:40.18 while Devin Flores was third in 4:44.93. In the boys 800m, Ramirez took first in 2:00.99 while Freve placed fifth in 2:07.97. In the boys 3200m, it was DeAngelo in first in 10:26.08, followed by Stafford in fourth (10:53.94) and Noah Morrison in sixth (11:10.05).

The girls took first, third and fourth in the 3200m. Alexandra Sirko won the race in 13:23.03 and was followed by Heller in third (13:40.80) and Natalie Dube in fourth (14:11.94). In the boys javelin throw, Jakob Salinas finished first with a toss of 151 feet. He was followed by Orlando Baldwin in fifth (106’4″) and Nicholas Jones in seventh (102′).

The girls 1600m run saw the Rams finish second, third and fourth. Dube ran the race in 6:00.28, Bosco finished in 6:03.71 and Sirko crossed the line in 6:06.53. Popielarz (2:41.56) and Bosco (2:42.18) were second and third in the 800m.

The Central girls 4x400m relay of Mia Hinton, Emma Stone, Gabriella Calfe and Sofia Veronesi finished second in 4:25.45. Navedo placed third in the 300m hurdles (42.59) and sixth in the 110m hurdles (16.33).

Jadyn Bauer took a fourth place finish in the girls high jump with a leap of 4’2″. Central took an unofficial fourth place finish in the boys 4x400m relay behind the ‘B’ team of Wilmer Rivera-Ortiz, Freve, Alejandra Garcia-Rivera and Adam Jones (3:44.17).

The boys 4x100m relay of Navedo, Ambert, Calvin Neal and Bowes finished fifth in 45.36. Also collecting fifth place finishes for the Rams were Ambert in the boys 400m dash (52.82), Krystal Rodriguez in the girls javelin (73’2″), Abigail Calfe in the girls triple jump (31’7″) and Camille Attle in the girls pole vault (6’6″). Destinee Craft finished sixth in the girls high jump (4’2″) while Gabriella Calfe was seventh in the girls triple jump (31’2.5″).
