Bristol Post 2 starts 19U Legion tourney at home

The Bristol Post 2 American Legion 19U baseball team will open the state tournament at Muzzy Field on Saturday morning.

Bristol finished second in Zone 1’s top five, which helped it get a top seed in pod play. Post 2 is the top team in Pod “D”, which includes Glastonbury (Zone 3), Jewett City (Zone 6) and East Hartford/Manchester (Zone 3).

Bristol faces EHM in a 1 vs. 4 matchup on Saturday at 10 a.m. Post 2 went 18-6 in the regular season while EHM was 11-11. In the 2 vs. 3 matchup, Glastonbury (14-8) hosts Jewett City (15-9) at 6:30 p.m. at Riverfront Park.

The winners are scheduled to play on Sunday at 10 a.m. at the site of the higher ranked team. The losers face off in an elimination game on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the site of the higher ranked team.

Notes

Bristol and Simsbury, both members of Zone 1’s Northern Division, finished 18-6, but Post 84 held the season series tiebreaker over Post 2. Bristol went 10-2 at home during the regular season. Post 2 won its last three games of the regular season and was 7-3 over the final 10 contests.
