Seven Bristol Blues play in FCBL All-Star Game

Seven Bristol Blues players took part in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League of New England All-Star Game on Tuesday night at Wahconak Park, the home of the Pittsfield Suns.

In an ironic twist, Brandon Miller and Austin White led off for their respective teams, the Electrics and the Hillies. The teams were named after the first organizations to play at Wahconak Park, which has been around since 1892. White got the better of the Blues leadoff batter battle, going 2-for-5 with a stolen base, run scored and RBI. Miller was 0-for-3. White drove in his run on an infield single.

Buddy Dewaine went 1-for-5 with an RBI single for the Hillies. Dominic Niman threw 0.2 inning in the 8-2 win and gave up a run and recorded a strikeout.

For the Electrics, Zeke Diamond was hit by a pitch, stole a base and scored a run. Diamond was also victimized by his own Blues teammate Dewaine, who barehanded a Diamond grounder and threw him out at first base.

Mark Faello pitched an inning for the Electrics and allowed one hit in a scoreless frame. Will Nowak threw 0.2 inning and struck out both batters he faced.

The Blues (19-18) resume the regular season on Thursday against the Brockton Rox at Muzzy Field at 7 p.m. Bristol is fifth out of seven teams in the FCBL standings, but they are just 2.5 games out of first place.
