Crosby boys to face Sacred Heart on Friday night

Crosby boys basketball (3-2) has a big challenge in front of it when it plays Sacred Heart (6-1) on Friday night at 7 o’clock at Alumni Hall.

The Hearts are a well-known commodity with standout wings Nate Tabor and Jamaal Waters leading the way, but here’s some more on the Bulldogs. Four players average double digits in points for Crosby, led by Kerwin Prince at 21.8. Prince also averages 10.2 rebounds per contest. The other double figure scorers are Tyler Spears (19.4, 6.6 rebounds), Justin Davis (15.2, 5.8 assists) and Markeese Days (12.3, 8.3 rebounds).

Prince is shooting 60 percent from the field and 76 percent at the foul line. Davis’ assist:turnover ratio is 2.64:1, and Spears leads the team in steals with 17.

Sacred Heart is coming off of a tough 50-42 home win over St. Paul on Wednesday. The Hearts needed a 20-4 fourth quarter to overcome an eight-point deficit and claim the victory against the Falcons. Waters scored a game-high 20 points, Tabor tallied 12 points, and seven-footer Connor Tierney added 10 points.

Crosby is coming off of a 77-72 comeback road win over Torrington on Wednesday. The Red Raiders were up by eight points early in the third quarter before the Bulldogs erupted. Jordan Santos led Crosby with 19 points while Prince, Spears and Davis each tallied 17 points. The Bulldogs will need every bit of their balanced offense to get past the Hearts on Friday night.
