From Sacred Heart High School to St. John’s for Tabor

Sacred Heart junior Nate Tabor has verbally committed to Chris Mullin and St. John’s University, according to published reports. Tabor’s commitment was first reported by Zach Braziller of the New York Post.

Former Heart Mustapha Heron has had a major impact on St. John’s in his first year after transferring from Auburn University. Now Tabor is on his way to Jamaica, Queens, a little over 10 miles away from his hometown of Far Rockaway. Heron and Tabor both played for the NY Renaissance AAU program out of New York.

Tabor, 6-foot-5, is a tremendous prospect, and a tremendous gain for St. John’s. He is averaging 20.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists for Sacred Heart, which is 6-1. He scored 33 points, as did Jamaal Waters, in an 82-73 loss to Our Saviour Lutheran of the Bronx. That game was during the first Mustapha Heron Skills Academy Connecticut vs. New York High School Basketball Showcase.
