Bristol Eastern girls volleyball sweeps Central in city series

Bristol Eastern girls volleyball defeated Bristol Central 3-1 (25-19, 25-13, 16-25, 25-15) on Monday night at Bristol Eastern High School.

With the win, the Lancers swept the city series from the Rams. Eastern improved to 14-2 overall and wrapped up a perfect 8-0 record in CCC South Region play. Central dropped to 14-3 overall (5-2 CCC South Region).

Zoe Lowe led the Lancers with 12 kills, but she had plenty of company from teammates Bella Nozzolillo and Amber Blais, who each tallied 10 kills. Aliana Rivoira and Taylor Keegan both had three kills while Alex Dimattia and Lowe added two aces apiece. Nozzolillo had three blocks while Ryley Plourde added two blocks. Dimattia led three Lancers in double figures in digs with 20, followed by Blais with 17 and Lowe with 14. Rivoira dished out 40 assists without a single ball-handling error.

Kathryn Ross paced the Rams with eight kills and two aces. Peyton Greger tallied five kills and three aces while Gwenyth Torreso chipped in 23 digs. Greger had 17 digs, followed by Amanda Warner with 16 and Brooke Soucy with 10. Ashleigh Clark recorded 12 assists.

Eastern is fifth in the Class L state tournament standings while Central sits in ninth.
