The threat of winter weather forced Crosby to cancel the boys basketball city jamboree, scheduled for Saturday. It will not be made up because the season begins next week.
It stinks that the jamboree is off, but safety is the No. 1 priority, and you can never be too cautious on the hills of the Brass City.
That being said, here’s who each local school — Bristol and Wolcott included — opens up with:
Saturday
Bristol Central — The Rams will host E.O. Smith at 5:30 p.m.
Bristol Eastern — The Lancers, guided by first-year head coach Bunty Ray, entertain Rockville at home at 6:45 p.m.
Monday
Kaynor Tech — The Panthers open the schedule with a bang against FCIAC foe Norwalk at home at 7 p.m.
Tuesday
Waterbury Career Academy — The Spartans play at Oxford at 6 p.m.
Wilby — The Wildcats tip off against Ansonia inside Reggie O’Brien Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
Kennedy — The Eagles, also home, open up against Naugatuck at 7 p.m.
Holy Cross — Another city team, another home game. The Crusaders host Seymour at 7 p.m.
St. Paul — The Falcons head for Beacon Falls for a 7 p.m. game against Woodland.
Crosby — Back to the Brass City home games. The Bulldogs play in The Palace against Torrington at 7 p.m.
Sacred Heart — The three-time defending state champion Hearts open with Wolcott inside Alumni Hall at 7 p.m.
