The Sacred Heart girls tennis team began the season with a tough 4-3 loss to Watertown at Crestbrook Park in Watertown.
The Hearts haven’t dropped a team match since, reeling off 10 straight victories since. Sacred Heart has been good at winning tight matches, claiming 4-3 wins over Wolcott, Woodland and Seymour. Wolcott, by the way, is a solid 10-2 in its own right.
The 10-match winning streak has put Sacred Heart in first place in the NVL and second in the Class S state rankings. Wolcott is seventh in Class S, and Woodland is 12th.
The Hearts are led by head coach Sherrie Gemmell. Sacred Heart is scheduled to host Holy Cross tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. at Fulton Park. A busy week continues Thursday and Friday with matches against Naugatuck (home) and Kennedy (away).
