The Crosby and St. Paul football teams each had busy weeks, beginning with a game against each other.
The Bulldogs won a previously postponed contest against the Falcons, 49-0, at McPhee Field in Bristol. Crosby had just four days between the St. Paul game and its next one, against Watertown on Saturday at Jimmy Lee Stadium. The Bulldogs found themselves locked in a defensive struggle, one they lost, 7-6, to the Warriors. Crosby found itself at 3-4 after the two games.
The Falcons had it even tougher than the Bulldogs. St. Paul had just three days between the Crosby game and its next one, Friday night at Torrington High School. The Falcons lost, 53-16, to the Raiders. St. Paul found itself at 2-5 after the two games.
Here’s what happened for Crosby and St. Paul in those two games:
Crosby 49, St. Paul 0: Tanner Leo completed 9-of-12 passes for 245 yards and three touchdowns for the Bulldogs. Jashua Sanabria had 90 yards receiving and a touchdown, Jeffery Burke added 92 yards and a touchdown, and Taji Blizzard also tallied a touchdown reception. Michael Scott ran for 93 yards and two touchdowns, Zhyon Hobbs added 64 yards rushing and a touchdown, and Michail Scott also tallied a rushing touchdown. On defense, Hobbs made nine tackles and forced a fumble that was returned for a touchdown. Jeremiah Tshinyama recorded 12 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble, Jireh Rawlison added a sack and forced fumble, and Martin Schofield intercepted a pass.
St. Paul 53, Torrington 16: Jeremy Taveras ran for one touchdown and caught another from Ryan Kilpatrick in the loss for the Falcons.
Watertown 7, Crosby 6: Michael Scott ran for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to get the Bulldogs within a point, but a penalty led to a longer extra point kick that was missed.
