Olivia Bart, Hartwick College swimming and diving
This former Bristol Eastern standout put up a terrific meet against four different opponents, and she earned the New England Collegiate Conference’s top honor.
Bart was named NECC Athlete of the Week after winning three times in the home meet this past Saturday. She also had a second place finish for Hartwick, which went 3-1 on the day. Bart swam back-to-back races, and won both, finishing first in the 50-yard freestyle (24.85 seconds) and 100 freestyle (55.45). Her time in the 50 freestyle put her in the top 10 all-time in program history. Bart swam the first leg of the winning 200 freestyle relay, completing it in 24.97. The second place finish came as part of the 200 medley relay.
Bart is a senior at Hartwick.
Logan Marchi, Sacred Heart University football
This former St. Paul standout threw the game-winning touchdown pass in his team’s 36-33 overtime victory at St. Francis University of Pennsylvania this past Saturday.
Marchi connected with Rob DiNota, whose quick move to get open made his opponent slip. DiNota ran through the final opponent between him and the end zone, and the Pioneers celebrated a thrilling victory. When DiNota scored, Marchi raised both arms in the air in celebration. It was the first touchdown of DiNota’s career.
Marchi was named a Northeast Conference Prime Performer. He finished 16-of-27 passing for 280 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Marchi, a graduate transfer, helped SHU put up the second-most points on St. Francis this season. The Red Flash entered the game ranked first in the NEC in scoring defense (18.3 points per game).
Donald Cianciolo, Elms College cross country
This former Kennedy standout earned second team All-NECC honors after finishing 12th in the conference championship meet this past Saturday.
Cianciolo, a junior at Elms, ran the 8k race at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass., in 32:28.6. He ran at a pace of 6:32 and was the third Blazer to cross the finish line behind senior Rich Hernandez and sophomore Ricky Elmer. Elmer won the race and was named NECC Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Year.
Cianciolo helped Elms (58 points) finish third as a team behind second place Eastern Nazarene (53) and first place Dean College (41).
Myah Croze, Western Connecticut State University soccer
This former Bristol Eastern standout continues to keep pace with the best offensive players in the Little East Conference as a freshman.
Croze scored two goals in a 3-1 win at UMass-Dartmouth on Oct. 26. As of Wednesday morning, she is tied for the LEC lead in goals with sophomore teammate Kaleigh Panek (17) and is second to Panek in total points (Croze has 36, Panek has 37). Croze is tied for third in game-winning goals with three.
She has taken 102 shots this season, which leads the LEC. Fifty-one of those 102 shots have been on goal.
Maggie Santacroce, Eastern Connecticut State University cross country
This former Bristol Eastern standout was the fifth finisher for the Warriors at the Suffolk Invitational on Oct. 19.
Santacroce took 45th overall and 40th for her team out of 202 runners at the invitational, which was held in Boston. She finished the 5k race in 21:22 and ran at a pace of 6:52.
Santacroce is a sophomore at ECSU.
