Rosa runs, passes Bristol Central football past E.O. Smith

Victor Rosa put together a terrific overall offensive effort, and Bristol Central football picked up another win Thursday night, 44-8, over E.O. Smith in Storrs.

Rosa ran for 202 yards and three touchdowns, and he threw for 179 yards and another score in the victory for the Rams (6-1), who have won six straight games. (Central is a one-point road loss to Bloomfield away from being an undefeated team.)

Rosa proved to be especially dangerous on designed quarterback sweeps with blockers Damion Glasper and Justin Despins leading the way. At one point, however, Rosa faked a sweep left, dropped back to pass, and hit Tre Blair for a 38-yard touchdown. Rosa has now rushed for 1,776 yards and 24 touchdowns, and he has thrown for 535 yards and four scores. Glasper had a catch-and-run touchdown of 84 yards against E.O. Smith. Despins had a rushing touchdown for the Rams, while Blair has three touchdowns over his last three games.

A big aspect of the game was the Central defense, which played much better, according to a story from Dave Greenleaf for The Bristol Press. After Hartford Public scored 48 and Tolland had 50 in back-to-back games, the Rams yielded just eight points to E.O. Smith.
