THURSDAY’S TOURNEY ROUNDUP: Sacred Heart boys track and field second in Class S

The Sacred Heart boys outdoor track and field team put together a tremendous performance on Thursday and finished second to NVL foe Derby in the Class S championship meet at Willow Brook Park in New Britain.
Standout hurdler Edward Williams led the way with first place finishes in the 110 and 300-meter events. Sacred Heart also captured first in the 4×100-meter relay behind the team of Joel Guzman, Mechai Hayes, Legend Johnson and Tyler Rudolph. 
The 4×400 relay of Andruw Flemming, Andre Anderson, Hayes and Williams finished second. There were also second place finishes from Rudolph in the 100-meter dash and Hayes in the 400. Tariq Price took third in the triple jump and fifth in the high jump.
Holy Cross finished seventh as a team in Class S. Marckens Auguste took second in the 300 hurdles, along with fourth in the 110 hurdles and triple jump. DeAndre Wallace took fourth in both the 200 and high jump while Kyle Moser placed sixth in the discus.
St. Paul’s Addison Davis was the top area girl with a fourth place finish in the high jump. 
Meah Austin took third in the 300 hurdles to lead Holy Cross. Jenna French finished seventh in the 800 meters to pace Sacred Heart.

GOLF

The Holy Cross boys were the kings of the course in the regular season in the NVL, and nothing changed Thursday at Watertown Country Club in the tournament.
The Crusaders claimed first place and put Vincent Graziano on the All-NVL team. Chris Ford and Mike Mencio made the All-Brass squad.

All-NVL: Zach Coderre (Watertown), Julian Perino (Woodland), Graziano, Ryne Salius (St. Paul), Carson Sparks (Torrington), Preston Lavoie (Wolcott)
All-Brass: Shea Zaccagnini (Sacred Heart), Ford, Mencio, Josh Hassan (Woodland)
All-Copper: Logan Durant (Wolcott), Jonathan Ledda (Torrington), Adam Ward (St. Paul), Colin Sheedy (Naugatuck)
Coderre was the medalist of the tournament while Lavoie earned top senior honors.
In girls golf, Veronica Diaz of Sacred Heart was medalist. Abi Pruchnicki of Naugatuck was second and teammate Mia Rotatori was third.
