WEDNESDAY’S TOURNEY ROUNDUP: St. Paul softball cruises into Class S quarters

No. 9 St. Paul softball again rode the strong pitching of Alessandra Milardo in a 7-0 upending of No. 8 Stafford on Wednesday in a Class S second round road game.
Next up for the Falcons is top-seeded East Granby on Friday at 4 p.m.
No. 2 Holy Cross 15, No. 15 Tourtellotte 0 (5 innings): The Crusaders continued to roll with a Class S second round home win.
Sarah Lawton hurled a five-inning shutout and struck out eight. She gave up two hits and walked one batter. Holy Cross scored three times in the bottom of the fourth inning, then erupted for 12 more to end the game in the fifth. Allie Brown went 4-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored while Aubry DeFoe was 3-for-3 with a double, three RBI and a run scored. Hannah Brown, Lizzy Diorio, Jenna Mowad and Gabby Goldman each had two hits and RBI. Lawton and Alexandra Lombardo each had two hits, one RBI and one run scored.
Holy Cross hosts No. 7 Hale Ray-Moodus Friday at 4 p.m.
No. 1 East Granby 10, No. 17 Sacred Heart 1: The Hearts saw a solid season come to an end on the road.
Sacred Heart finished 12-10.

BASEBALL
No. 1 Holy Cross 9, No. 16 East Hampton 0: Fran Phelan put together another outstanding effort on the mound, and the Crusaders moved on with a Class S second round home win.
Adam Razza tripled, singled, drove in five runs and added two runs scored. Will Marshall went 3-for-3 with a run scored while Mike keating added two hits, two RBI and a run scored. Tim Zupkus doubled, drove in a run and scored another. Phelan pitched the first six innings and yielded four hits.
Holy Cross hosts No. 8 Thomaston on Saturday at 1 p.m.
No. 4 St. Paul 6, No. 20 Coginchaug Regional 5: The Falcons struggled in the field, but overcame their miscues and won a Class S second round home game.
Jack Bator picked up the win and Julian Thayer had the save. At the plate, Bator was 2-for-3 with two RBI while Nick Morrell went 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and a run scored.
No. 9 Guilford 7, No. 25 Bristol Central 1: The Rams saw their season end in a Class L second round road loss.
Central finished the season 11-11.
No. 7 Old Lyme 2, No. 10 Sacred Heart 1: The Hearts saw their season end in a Class M second round road loss.
Jimmy Edwards pitched well in the loss. Edwards gave up two runs on six hits and struck out three with no,walks.
Sacred Heart ended season at 14-9.

BOYS LACROSSE
No. 4 Ellington 13, No. 13 St. Paul 1: The Falcons lost their Class S first round game on the road.
St. Paul finished the season 8-9 (regular season and state results).

CLASS MM TRACK AND FIELD
Andriska Mickle finished second in the javelin and eighth in the shot put for Kennedy. Robert Snide was seventh in the javelin for Wolcott. Terrell Patterson placed fourth in the 1600 meters for Kaynor Tech.
