When a high school golfer shoots under 40, that’s a pretty good day.
Most days, a high school team won’t have more than one or two players who will shoot under 40.
The Bristol Central golf team had four golfers go below 40 in an astounding day of golf Tuesday against Maloney at Pequabuck Golf Club. Led by a medalist round of 3-under 32 from senior Scott Petrosky, the Rams shot a school record low of 140 in a victory over the Spartans, who scored 197. Central improved to 10-1 overall and is ranked third in Division I in the state.
Freshman Avery Phillips, junior Brandon Frye and sophomore Joey Pikiell all shot 1-over 36. Here’s how what happened for each player on an historic day of golf:
