On an opening day where most local teams had to deal with rain and postponements as a form of April Fool’s Day joke, the Bristol Co-op boys’ lacrosse team faced Northwest United at Bristol Eastern High School.
Bristol got out to an early lead and made sure Northwest didn’t get closer than two goals. Bristol picked up a big goal late in the third quarter, then added an insurance goal in the fourth quarter to close out its 8-4 victory.
Jaden Glasper had a great day for Bristol with three goals. Ian Reardon and Aidan Collins added two goals apiece while Vinny Howley also scored. Logan Beauprey, Brody Turner and Ethan Heinrich each tallied an assist, and Max Stavens recorded 13 saves.
Bristol ran out to a 4-1 lead after one quarter and held a 5-2 advantage at halftime. The lead grew to 6-2 before Northwest scored a pair of goals to get back to 6-4. Bristol was a man-up late in the third quarter when Reardon found Collins in front for a goal with 1:35 left to reestablish control.
