The UConn football team needed a spark Monday during the Myrtle Beach Bowl against Marshall at Coastal Carolina’s Brooks Stadium.
True freshman and former Bristol Central star Victor Rosa provided that spark in the third quarter. Rosa scored a pair of touchdowns to help the Huskies cut a 28-point deficit in half. He went 14 yards for one score, then rumbled 24 yards for the second one. Rosa’s second touchdown came on the final play from scrimmage in the third quarter.
UConn had chances to get closer in the fourth quarter, but its spirited comeback attempt came up short as Marshall won, 28-14. The Huskies finished the season with a 6-7 record. Rosa showed, however, that he has a bright future with UConn. He finished the game with 75 yards and the two touchdowns on 16 carries.
For the season, Rosa led the Huskies with 140 rushing attempts for 636 yards and 11 touchdowns.
