The CIAC is planning for a normal high school winter sports season, complete with league and state tournaments. That season begins Monday with a trio of Waterbury girls basketball teams in action.
Kaynor Tech tips off the basketball season at 5:30 p.m. against Cheney Tech in Manchester. At 7 p.m. Wilby hosts WCA inside the Reggie O’Brien Gymnasium at Wilby High School. A more filled out girls basketball schedule awaits on Tuesday, but only Kaynor Tech and Crosby are at home. On Wednesday, wrestling opens its season, with both Bristol Central and Bristol Eastern heading on the road to compete. Thursday marks the start of the boys basketball campaign, but just Bristol Eastern and Wilby are in action. More girls and boys hoop contests await on Friday and Saturday.
