Everyone is used to Wolcott playing area schools like those from Waterbury and St. Paul from Bristol, along with schools from the NVL. The Eagles could wind up adding others like Bristol Central and Bristol Eastern under the CIAC’s regional scheduling plan for the fall 2020 season. Maybe neighboring Terryville will become a foe.
The CIAC is delaying the start of the actual season until Sept. 24 for all sports. This post won’t go into every detail about the CIAC’s plan. For all that information, go here.
The regional schedule calls for schools to play the 10 closest schools to them. That could create situations where schools play members from their former conference. There could be interesting storylines, for sure, but only if the coronavirus is under control enough to allow a season, and that’s one big IF.
Football is the most dramatically affected sport and will play just six games. All other sports will have 12 games, matches or meets, depending on which sport you prefer. The regular season is scheduled to end around Halloween, and some sort of postseason would be between Nov. 2 and Nov. 15.
The CIAC plan lays out the dates that teams are allowed to condition, start practice, scrimmage, then play games. It’s all there in the plan, so take a look if you have questions.
