Terryville Black Sox sit atop CTL standings

The Terryville Black Sox are doing just fine in their first season in the Connecticut Twilight League.

Terryville sits atop both the CTL West Division and the current playoff standings with a record of 8-1. The Black Sox entered the CTL after the Connecticut Tri-State Baseball League season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Terryville took its first loss of the season, 4-3, on July 12 to the Great Falls Gators, another first-year team. The Black Sox have won two straight since, and they won in convincing fashion both times.

Terryville blanked the Arch2 Indians, 4-0, on July 13 at Rocky Hill High School. Kody Kerski threw a complete-game gem and struck out 14 that night. On Friday night, the Black Sox downed the Southington Aftershock, 5-1, at Recreation Park in Southington.

Terryville has scored the most runs in the league (40) and has the second-highest run differential (28).

The Black Sox will need to stay hot, though, because the team with the league’s second-best record sits is in their division. The Gators are 6-1 and third in the playoff standings. The winners of the West and East divisions claim the top two playoff spots and a first round bye. The defending champion Fat Orange Cat Brewers led the East with a 3-2 record.
