This date in history: Holy Cross softball ousts St. Paul from Class S tourney

June 1, 2019: Holy Cross softball didn’t have a great day during the regular season against St. Paul, losing by a score of 10-4 at Joan Joyce Field.

The Crusaders made up for it when it counted on this date, however, and knocked the Falcons out of the Class S state tournament, 13-8, in Bristol. Holy Cross won its third straight postseason game (it lost to Watertown in an NVL quarterfinal) and advanced to the semifinal round.

Jenna Mowad homered and drove in five to lead the offense. Val Nobrega tripled, drove in three runs and scored three more. Allie Brown had a pair of hits, four runs scored and two RBI.

Here’s my story about the game.
