This date in history: Wolcott baseball and St. Paul softball pick up big wins

Going into April 25, 2019, the Holy Cross baseball team hadn’t lost a game. The Crusaders played a perfect first half of the season and were 10-0 entering their home contest against Wolcott.

Over in Bristol, St. Paul softball was hosting perennial state power Seymour. The Wildcats came in winners of nine straight games following a season-opening loss to 2018 Class LL runner-up Trumbull.

One team came in undefeated overall, and another was undefeated in the NVL. Both of those teams left with a loss on that afternoon.

Wolcott baseball defeated Holy Cross, 6-2, and improved to 9-1. The Crusaders dropped to 10-1 with the defeat.

St. Paul softball rallied to upend Seymour, 4-3, and improved to 9-1. The Falcons avenged what was to that point their only loss of the season. The Wildcats fell to 9-2.
