On April 25, 2016, Holy Cross softball traveled to Beacon Falls to take on Woodland Regional. The Crusaders appeared to be in control late, but saw the Hawks storm back to within one run in the last of the seventh inning.
Holy Cross held on for the 6-5 victory and improved to 10-0 on the season. The Crusaders were on their way to a second straight Class S state championship that season, the middle title of a three-year run of dominance.
