Clingan posts unbelievable stat line in Bristol Central loss to No. 1 Windsor

Bristol Central sophomore Donovan Clingan has put up big stat lines for most of this season, but his numbers from Monday night’s 75-71 loss to top-ranked Windsor are astounding.

Clingan tallied 34 points, 29 rebounds and eight blocked shots. You read that correctly. Clingan almost had a 30-30-10 triple-double against the top-ranked team in Connecticut. Not just the top-ranked team, but the unanimous top-ranked team in the state. WOW. (Full disclosure: I vote in the GameTime CT Top 10 poll every week for the Waterbury Republican-American.)

Clingan got some serious help from his teammates as well. That’s how you come close to knocking off the No. 1 team. One player can’t do it by himself. Austin Brown had 12 points, six rebounds and six assists while Shane Ouellette scored 15 points on five 3-pointers.

Bristol Central fell to 10-4 with the loss. Clingan could prove to be an absolute nightmare for his team’s opponents in the Division II state tournament.

Note: Sophomore Damion Glaspar brought the ball up the floor against Windsor’s plethora of talented guards, not an easy thing to do. He also played with great intensity. Thanks to Bill Clingan for that note.
