Bristol Eastern boys suffer back-to-back tough losses at RHAM, Bloomfield

There’s no place like home will apply to Bristol Eastern boys basketball more than most teams when it hosts Platt on Feb. 11.

The Lancers have been on the road for the past five games, and there’s one more to come Thursday at Berlin at 6:45 p.m. Eastern has lost each of those five road games, but the last two have been especially tough.

This past Saturday, the Lancers fell, 48-46, at RHAM. On Monday night, Eastern lost, 48-47, in overtime at Bloomfield. The Lancers are 5-8 and three wins away from clinching a state tournament berth.

One constant for Eastern has been the scoring of junior Elijah Parent. When the Lancers lost, 73-56, at E.O. Smith on Jan. 30, Parent scored 25 points and hit four 3-pointers. In the RHAM loss, he had 24 points and tied the school record for 3-pointers in a game with six (6-of-6 on 3-pointers, 9-of-12 overall from the field). Parent tallied 22 points in the Bloomfield loss.

There was some good news for Eastern. Junior Trini Otero has returned after missing time with an ankle injury.
