Bristol Eastern swimming downed by Southington

Bristol Eastern girls swimming faced a tough challenge on Wednesday afternoon against Southington at the Southington YMCA.

The Lady Knights have 60 members on their team and vastly outnumber the Lancers, who have 31. Southington built a 94-30 lead, and the final three events were contested as exhibitions. Still, there were some good efforts from Eastern.

Chelsea DeMarest finished first for the Lancers in the 100 backstroke and Samantha Rivard was first in the 100 breaststroke. Eastern also captured the top spot in the 400 freestyle relay behind the team of Chelsea DeMarest, Isabella Rubio, Noelle Bruce and Taylor DeMarest.

Taylor DeMarest finished second in both the 200 and 500 freestyle races. Amanda Jones was second in the 100 backstroke and Kylie Wolfradt took second in the 100 breaststroke. The Lancers also took second in the 400 freestyle relay behind the team of Aubrey Wolfradt, Megan Ayotte, Victoria Lincoln and Katelynn Reay.

Third place finishes were picked up by Noelle Bruce in the 200 IM, Erin Moderacki in the 100 backstroke and Sophie Czertak in the 100 breaststroke. The Lancers were also third in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay races. The 200 medley relay consisted of Chelsea DeMarest, Kylie Wolfradt, Victoria Stepien and Noelle Bruce. The 200 freestyle relay was made up of Treva Wishart, Rivard, Stepien and Aubrey Wolfradt.

The Eastern roster is made up of eight seniors, four juniors, 12 sophomores and seven freshmen.
