LaRon ‘Mookie’ Zimmerman adds to championship coaching pedigree

LaRon “Mookie” Zimmerman has become a very successful head coach at the arena football level.

The former Sacred Heart High School and Anna Maria College football player recently led the West Virginia Roughriders to an undefeated season (13-0) and the American Arena League championship as head coach. The Roughriders defeated the Carolina Energy 55-29.

It’s the second championship in three seasons for Mookie Zimmerman and the Roughriders. The first came when the team was the Richmond Roughriders and played in the Arena Pro Football indoor league in 2017.

And for the second time in three years, Zimmerman was named his league’s coach of the year. Zimmerman serves as head coach and defensive coordinator of the Roughriders.

Three seasons, two championships and two coach of the year awards. That’s quite the list of accolades.
