Several local boys teams still in hunt for state tourney bid

We’re down to the final matches of the regular season for area soccer teams, and a few of them are in still in the running for a berth in the state tournament.
Teams must win 40 percent of their matches. To get that 40%, the CIAC takes two points for each win, one for each tie and divides it by twice the number of matches played.
Three NVL boys teams are in the hunt. Wolcott is 5-8-2, and if the season ended now, it would be in. Alas, the Eagles still have another match to play and must secure at least a tie to qualify.
St. Paul is 4-7-3 and needs a win or two ties in its two remaining matches to reach the state tournament.
Wilby is 5-9-1 and also needs a tie, with one match remaining, to qualify for the state postseason.
Here’s the schedule for Wolcott, St. Paul and Wilby:
WOLCOTT — vs. St. Paul (4-7-3) on Nov. 1 at 6 p.m.
ST. PAUL — at Haddam-Killingworth (11-2-2) on Saturday at 3 p.m.; at Wolcott (5-8-2) on Nov. 1 at 6 p.m.
WILBY — vs. Kaynor Tech (3-11-1) on Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Municipal Stadium

Bristol Eastern, at 4-6-3, is also in the hunt for the state tournament. The Lancers need a tie in one of their last three matches to qualify.
Here’s the schedule for Eastern:
EASTERN — vs. Plainville (7-5-2) on Friday at 5:30 p.m.; vs. Bristol Central (8-6-1) on Monday at 5 p.m.; at Maloney (8-5-0) on Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. at Falcon Field
