Wolcott girls lacrosse has been a work in progress since the team stepped onto the varsity field for the first time in 2017. The Eagles have taken a major step forward in 2019.
Wolcott was 4-9 entering the final three games of the season. The Eagles needed at least two wins and a tie to qualify for the Class S state tournament. Wolcott did better than that, winning all three games to finish the regular season 7-9 and reach the postseason for the first time in program history.
Wolcott played in the Western Connecticut Lacrosse Conference tournament for the first time Wednesday when it took on St. Paul in Bristol. The Eagles lost 19-10 to the host Falcons, but the experience is an invaluable one for them.
Wolcott will play in the state tournament for the first time this weekend when Class S play begins. The pairings for the state tournament will be announced on Thursday.
