Bristol Eastern football has won two straight games, and the program has come a long way from last year’s winless season.
The Lancers held off the Indians of Farmington 19-12 on Friday night at Bristol Eastern High School. Eastern improved to 2-3 with the victory, which it earned by jumping out to a 19-0 halftime lead. The two-game streak is the first for the Lancers since 2014. Eastern also doubled its win total from the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
Matt D’Amato opened the scoring in the first quarter with a two-yard touchdown run. The Lancers led 13-0 after Justin Marshall found Ariza Kolloverja for a 29-yard touchdown connection. Tyler Mason’s 11-yard score added the final score for Eastern and its halftime margin. D’Amato, Mason and Steven Hopkins all ran for career-high rushing totals, according to Lancer stat man Michael Letendre (@LTrain1994 on Twitter).
The Eastern defense came up big on Friday, forcing six Farmington turnovers. There were three interceptions, two fumble recoveries and one turnover on downs.
The Lancers have a bye week, then take on Platt at Meriden’s Falcon Field on Oct. 20.
