Sacred Heart/Kaynor Tech football will have a familiar face back on its sideline.
That would be Philip Dawson, who is returning to Sacred Heart after a short stint at Paramus Catholic in New Jersey.
“Yes. The rumors you heard are true,” Dawson wrote on Twitter. “[It’s] back to business with my brothers. Amped to put my Maroon and Gold back on.”
The Sacred Heart athletics Twitter account confirmed Dawson’s return.
“Welcome back Hearts junior Philip (Trey) Dawson! #SHfam,” read the Sacred Heart post.
Athletic director Michael Madden Jr. sent this email out late Tuesday night.
“Just passing along that Phil (Trey) Dawson is back at Sacred Heart, on the football team, and playing Thursday at Oxford,” Madden wrote.
Dawson completed 233 of 366 passes (63.7 percent) for 3,272 yards, 31 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. The co-op was 6-4 last season.
Sacred Heart/Kaynor Tech’s next game is Thursday at Oxford at 6 p.m. That would be the first chance Dawson has to play again in the Maroon and White Gold.
