It has been a struggle at the plate for former Bristol Eastern standout Connor Fitzsimons in the Arizona League.
Fitzsimons has split time with two other catchers on the Angels roster and has played in 11 games. Going into a Aug. 16 contest against the Diamondbacks, he had one hit. In each of his last two games (the other was Aug. 24 against the Cubs), however, Fitzsimons has had one hit, increasing his total to three.
Behind the plate, Fitzsimons has thrown out three baserunners. Fitzsimons, who has always been a strong defensive catcher, has started seven of the 11 games he has played in.
