The Bristol Eastern girls volleyball team kept up its mastery of Bristol Central with a 3-1 victory in the Thomas M. Monahan Gymnasium on Monday night. The set scores were 25-23, 25-20, 17-25, 25-15.
The Lancers improved to 9-1 while the Rams fell to 7-3. Eastern won its 56th straight match against Central, a streak that dates back to 1994. The Lancers won their fourth straight match of the 2022 season and ended the Rams’ six-match win streak.
Eastern’s Lauren Bender (22 kills, 18 digs) continued her tear at the net while Alyssa Valentine (38 assists, 6 digs) ran the offense well. Sarah Lacouture chipped in 17 digs.
The Lancers won the first two sets, but the Rams stayed in the match by claiming the third set. Eastern closed out the match with a strong fourth set.
Central hosts the second meeting between the teams on Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m.
