Former Bristol Eastern standout Kevin Rivers had a good night at the plate Friday for the York Revolution of the Atlantic League.
Rivers had a RBI triple and RBI double in his team’s 4-3 win over the Lancaster Barnstormers. With the win, York clinched the first half Freedom Division title.
Rivers is hitting .231 with five RBI in six games since being acquired by the Revolution in a trade with the New Britain Bees. In 39 games with New Britain, Rivers batted .246 with a home run and seven RBI.
After Bristol Eastern, Rivers played for Franklin Pierce. He signed with the Seattle Mariners in 2009 and reached as high as AA, where he played for the Jackson Generals.
Rivers played for Lancaster in the Atlantic League last year and was named to the all-star team. He had 15 homers and 48 RBI in 102 games last year.
