There are two things that happened on Tuesday night that affected the Bristol Central boys basketball team.
First, the Rams drilled short-handed Bristol Eastern, 73-24, inside the Charles C. Marsh Gymnasium at Bristol Central High School. The Lancers were missing two starters Tuesday, not a good place to be when facing the No. 1 team in the state.
The second thing that happened to Central is Prince Tech lost for the first time in 41 games. Central’s 18-game winning streak is now the longest in the state, according to state high school basketball guru Joe Morelli of GameTimeCT.
Donovan Clingan scored 23 points and hit his first 3-pointer of the season, according to a story from Matt Hornick of The Bristol Press. Sacred Heart transfer Steve Alseph had five steals by halftime, and Carson Rivioira recorded four thefts before exiting the game for good in the third quarter. Central improved to 3-0 while Eastern fell to 0-3. Neither team plays again until after New Year’s.
