As was noted by a couple different media outlets, Sacred Heart senior Tyrn Flowers signed his National Letter of Intent to play for UMass today.
ESPN’s Adam Finkelstein had this to say on Twitter about the slender lefty:
“Sacred Heart (CT) forward Tyrn Flowers has signed his NLI with UMass. Huge talent in the A10 & completes top ranked class in the conference.”
The Minutemen and Derek Kellogg could certainly use his help. UMass was 14-18 this past season, including a 6-12 mark in the Atlantic 10.
Kellogg said this about adding Flowers to the team:
“Tyrn is a multi-dimensional player on both ends who can play multiple
positions and we will be happy to watch him grow and progress learning
the game. His length and his athleticism fits well with how we like to
play basketball at UMass.”
Flowers is a gifted ballplayer with room to grow. It’ll be interesting to see how he does at UMass.
St. Paul softball wins big in Disney
The Falcons made their trip to Disney World — albeit after having a flight cancelled — but they will return home with a victory over a local foe.
St. Paul, which goes to Disney every two years, defeated Plainville 11-0 this morning at Disney’s Wide World of Sports.
Angela Persechino, who has a freshman daughter named Jessica on the team, tweeted out updates from the game, so thank you to her for the posts.
Having written about this trip in my last sports job, I can tell you that St. Paul softball has a terrific time at Disney. It’s not all fun though. There are games to be played, and the one against Plainville counts. The rest are exhibitions.
St. Paul (2-0) returns to its local schedule on April 18, when it plays at Crosby at 3:45 p.m.
