The Connecticut Tri-State Baseball League had two representatives play in the AABC Northeast World Series.
The Terryville Black Sox and Blasius Chevrolet each earned a spot in the eight-team tournament, which was played at Waterbury’s Municipal Stadium and Torrington’s Fuessenich Park. Terryville won two games before being eliminated on the second-to-last day. Blasius picked up one win before being ousted.
The Black Sox lost 6-3 to the Albany (N.Y.) Athletics on Aug. 8. Terryville defeated the Pelham (N.Y.) Mets 1-0 on Aug. 9. The Black Sox eliminated the Mets with the win.
Terryville next took on the New York Hawks on Aug. 10. The Black Sox beat the Hawks 10-3 and eliminated them from the World Series. In the second game of the day for Terryville, its run finally came to an end. The Black Sox lost 3-1 to Fedells Mechanics (Trumbull) and were eliminated.
Blasius saw its first game against the Braintree (N.Y.) White Sox rained out on Aug. 8. The teams played on Aug. 9, and the two-time defending World Series champion White Sox won 7-1. Blasius lost 6-4 to the Danbury Pirates on Aug. 9 and was eliminated.
Terryville is still alive in the Tri-State League playoffs. They are in a three-game semifinal series against the Litchfield Cowboys.
