Top-seeded Terryville Black Sox headed back to Tri-State World Series

The Terryville Black Sox are on their way to a second straight Connecticut Tri-State Baseball League World Series. The top seed is hoping for a better result than 2018, when it lost to the Tri-Town Trojans.

Terryville won a pair of high-scoring games against the No. 4 Litchfield Cowboys, 14-9 and 12-10 at Torrington’s Fuessenich Park, to sweep a best-of-three semifinal series. In Game 2, the Black Sox were down 8-2, but rallied for the series-clinching victory. Nick DeLotto had four hits, including two doubles, to go along with four RBI. Gavin Lavallee tallied three hits, including two doubles, to go along with his three RBI.

Terryville earned a first round bye due to its stellar 16-2 regular season record. It took the Black Sox three games to dispatch the Bethlehem Plowboys in a tough second round series. Terryville won the first game 8-2, but No. 8 Bethlehem took the second game 10-7. In the third game, the Black Sox won 7-2 to advance. DeLotto and Lavallee were big hitters in the series against the Plowboys.
