Will Aldam looked in toward the final batter of Sunday’s Blasius Chevrolet game against the Winsted Whalers at Prospect’s Hotchkiss Field.
Aldam (6-0) was one out away from history, and when the final strike flew past the final batter, he finished the first no-hitter in Blasius history. Blasius beat the Winsted Whalers 7-0. Aldam was three outs away from a perfect game when a 3-2 call went against him for a walk. Blasius turned a 5-4-3 double play, and Aldam picked up a strikeout to finish his no-no.
Tim Kennedy came oh so close to a no-hitter in a 10-0 win over the Naugatuck Dogs on Thursday. Aldam and Kennedy are part of a Blasius pitching staff that has allowed one run and three hits over the past 19 innings.
Blasius won the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader against the Canton Crushers, 8-1, and finished the sweep with Aldam’s no-hitter. Blasius is 9-1, a half-game behind the defending champion Tri-Town Trojans (10-1) for first place in the Connecticut Tri-State Baseball League standings.
