Wolcott softball took a special trip this past week to Florida to play games at the ESPN Wide World of Sports (Disney World). The Eagles return home with a 6-1 record.
Wolcott won two out of the three official games its played at Disney. Here’s what happened in each game:
Wolcott 5, Lewis Mills 3 (Sunday, April 14)
The Eagles spotted the Spartans a three-run lead, but began to rally in the bottom of the fourth inning. Wolcott got on the board with one run in the fourth, then scored four times in the sixth to complete the comeback.
Wolcott had four hits in the game, including a single and two RBI from Kayla Nuelan. Abby Sullivan and Jade Abdul-Lateef had singled and scored a run. Katie Cosmos, Kaitlyn Ouellette and Kennedy White each scored a run, and Josie Cammarata doubled.
Ouellette pitched a complete game. She gave up three runs (one earned) on seven hits and struck out 11.
Wolcott 9, Naugatuck 4 (Tuesday, April 16)
Alexis Boyce finished a triple short of the cycle, scored a run, and drove in two more to lead the Eagles against the Greyhounds.
Ouellette went 4-for-4 with a double, run scored and two RBI. Mac Crimmins and Madison Rotella each had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI. Nuelan had a single and RBI while Cammarata and Cosmos each added an RBI.
Ouellette threw another complete game and struck out four.
Woodland Regional 9, Wolcott 2 (Wednesday, April 17)
The Eagles scored first, but the Hawks scored more often and handed the scarlet and gray their first loss.
Abdul-Lateef doubled and drove in two runs while Cammarata (double) was 3-for-3 with a run scored. Sarah Hughes also doubled, and Arianna Pasqua scored a run. Ouellette took the loss in the circle.

Wolcott’s first game back in Connecticut was supposed to be Saturday against St. Paul at home, but it was postponed by rain. The Eagles are scheduled to host Derby on Monday at 3:45 p.m. at George Babcock Field.
