Bristol native Chris Theriault is familiar with the area surrounding Wolcott.
Theriault played football for Bristol Central football before graduating from the school in 1995. Fast forward to the present day, and Theriault is the electrical department head at Kaynor Tech.
Theriault is now the new head coach of the Wolcott football program, according to a story from Mark Jaffee for The Red Zone. Theriault got a call Tuesday morning from Wolcott Superintendent of Schools Anthony J. Gasper to inform him that he got the job, according to Jaffee’s story.
Theriault’s nomination for the head coaching position was put forward by Gasper at Monday night’s Wolcott Board of Education meeting. Theriault will become head coach effective Feb. 25. He takes over for Matt Hove, who resigned after coaching the past two seasons.
Theriault has previous head coaching experience at Platt Tech in Milford. He was Cromwell/Portland’s defensive coordinator for the past two seasons.
