The Wolcott Storm won’t be the only team with a local edge to it at the Mickey Mantle World Series (16U) on Thursday.
The CT Edge of Meriden also has some familiar names on its roster.
Connor Goggin, Jack Drewry, Julian Thayer and Ernest McClary will take the field for CT Edge. Goggin plays his high school ball for Holy Cross, Drewry is at Wolcott, Thayer at St. Paul, and McClary at Sacred Heart.
Goggin was part of the first state championship in Holy Cross baseball history. Drewry was part of the 2016 Wolcott state championship team as a freshman. Thayer was a big part of the success of his St. Paul team this spring. McClary was a first baseman and big bat in the middle of the lineup.
