It wasn’t easy, but the Wolcott Scrappers will be in the 12-team Connecticut Tri-State Baseball League playoff field.
Wolcott finished the regular season at 9-10 after a 14-5 victory over the Canton Crushers. Ryan Soucy put together a five-hit game, including two doubles. Clete LoRusso pounded out a two-run triple that was part of his three-hit day. Eric Soucy, Ryan Andrade and Mikey Grasso each tallied two hits.
For the second time in five days, Justin Koutros threw a complete game for Wolcott. Koutros struck out six and allowed three earned runs.

TRIBURY TALLIES VICTORY
The Twisters got to 9-8 with a 4-1 victory over the Torrington Rebels on Saturday. The tremendous pitching of Ben Brown led the way. Brown struck out 11 and yielded one unearned run while giving up four hits.
Offensively, Brown helped his cause with a RBI single. Evan Devico had two doubles while Tom Rinaldi went 3-for-4 with a home run.
Tribury clinches the No. 7 seed with two wins in its final two games.

MANCINI BLASTS AWAY FOR BETHLEHEM
The Plowboys concluded their regular season at 13-6 with a 17-1 rout of the Southington 66ers.
Matt Mancini had a strong day, going 4-for-4 with six RBI. Bethlehem earned the No. 4 seed in the Tri-State playoffs, which includes a first round bye.

BLASIUS OPENS PLAY IN STAN MUSIAL TOURNEY
Blasius Chevrolet finished fifth in the Tri-State regular season standings with a 12-7 record, thanks to its victory over the Terryville Black Sox in their lone head-to-head meeting.
Blasius begins double elimination Stan Musial State Tournament play tonight at 7 o’clock (weather permitting) against All-Star Batting at Danbury High School.
The other three Musial teams are the Watertown Blaze, Naugatuck Dogs and Terryville.

66ERS ARE IN THE PLAYOFFS!
Southington will play in the postseason in just its second year of existence.
The 66ers may have been blown out by Bethlehem in the season finale, but they are in the playoffs. Southington is one of three teams with a 10-9 record, and seeding isn’t official until the final games have been played.
