Lawton pitches Holy Cross past Watertown

The Holy Cross softball team came up with a huge 3-0 win over Watertown on Friday afternoon.

Sam Lawton was magnificent in the pitchers’ circle for the Crusaders (2-1) and handcuffed the Warrior offense throughout. The right-hander struck out 16, walked two and gave up just two hits to a team that ended Woodland’s long NVL regular season win streak earlier in the week.

Lawton also helped her own cause at the plate, blasting an RBI triple to right field. Juliana McClary had a hit and RBI while Isabella Oliver picked up the other hit off Watertown’s Nadia Andarowski, who fanned 13 and walked two. Two of the three runs Andarowski allowed were earned. The Crusader defense didn’t make an error behind Lawton.
