The Bristol Central and Bristol Eastern boys track and field teams have plenty on the line Tuesday in their annual tussle.
Both teams enter the meet with perfect 6-0 records, which puts the CCC South Division regular season title on the line. The meet, which is being held at Bristol Central High School, begins at 3:30 p.m. with field events, followed by track events starting at 4 p.m.
The Central and Eastern boys will put a ton of talent on display at this meet. For the Rams, there’s the running ability of senior Francis Porrini III, a triple threat in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200-meter races. Senior Tre Blair is a triple threat in the triple, high and long jumps, and he owns the school record in the triple jump (46 feet, 1.25 inches). Junior Logan Jackson has been able to do well in both the 110 and 300-meter hurdles. Central is also strong in the relays, where it has often accumulated a high number of points against division foes.
For the Lancers, junior Rayshon Andrews shines on the track and in the field. He’s a threat in the 100 and 200 meters, plus the long jump. The versatile senior Jack Mulcunry has won a bunch of races – individual and relay. He has broken his own 800 record a couple times (current time is 1:56.22), and he was a member of the record-breaking sprint medley (1:35.26) and 4×400 relays (3:31.82). Senior Austin Shorette has been solid in throwing events.
It all begins at 3:30 p.m. at Bristol Central High School.
