Kids from the Boys & Girls Club of Bristol were treated to a great performance from former Bristol Central superstar Donovan Clingan on Saturday at Gampel Pavilion.
Clingan had 21 points, 11 rebounds, two blocks and a steal in just 15 minutes as UConn blasted Long Island University, 114-61, and improved to 11-0. Clingan was a perfect 10-for-10 from the field, and the 21 points were a career high for the true freshman. Seven of his 11 rebounds came on the defensive end of the floor.
Clingan’s final rebound and points of the first half were emphatic. His two-handed putback slam with one second left gave UConn a 62-27 halftime lead.
Clingan’s averages through 11 games are: 15.1 minutes, 10.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.1 blocks, and 0.7 steals. He is shooting 75.4% from the field.
