Prince helps Dodge City C.C. set conference single-season record for wins

Former Crosby, Notre Dame West Haven Prep and Mercy College standout Kerwin Prince has had a good run of late with the Dodge City (Kansas) Community College men’s basketball team.

Prince, a redshirt freshman, has helped the Conquistadors achieve a single-season record for victories in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference with 20. Dodge City improved to 20-3 in the KJCCC and 25-4 overall with a 99-82 win over Pratt this past Saturday. Prince had a big game with a season-high 21 points (9-12 field goals, 3-4 free throws), plus 11 rebounds. The win was the eighth in a row for the Conquistadors, who finished the regular season 15-0 at home.

It was the third solid game in a row for Prince. He had 14 points and eight rebounds in a 103-77 rout of Independence on Feb. 14, followed by 16 points and seven rebounds in a 94-81 win over Colby on Feb. 16.

Prince has played in all 29 games with Dodge City, including two starts. He is averaging 7.3 points and 4.4 rebounds in 13.5 minutes per game. The Conquistadors conclude the regular season on Wednesday at Barton.
